Four new restaurants were revealed on Wednesday at a tasting event held by Bedrock Real Estate Services.
Media gathered at the First National Building to speak with the owners and get a taste of some of the specialties their restaurants will offer. One thing’s for sure: healthy options, fresh foods, local ingredients and affordability are a strong theme. From salads and wraps to small plates and craft cocktails, anyone who lives, works or plays in Detroit will find new favorite hangouts opening now through the fall.
Mike’s Kabob Grille: Open Now
Located inside the Chrysler House (719 Griswold), this family-run Lebanese restaurant features Middle Eastern cuisine and traditional Lebanese dishes. Owner Mike Abdallah and his son, Mike, operated in the suburbs but wanted to be a part of the Detroit experience. Mike’s Kabob Grille is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. For more information visit MikesKG.com.
Wright & Company: Opening June
A joint venture between Dave Kwiatkowski (owner of Corktown’s Sugar House) and Marc Djozlija (former head chef at MGM Grand Detroit’s Wolfgang Puck), this new gathering place will feature contemporary American small plates, craft cocktails and natural wines. Located on the second floor of the historic Wright-Kay building (1500 Woodward), guests will enter through a revitalized alley, making for a unique experience. 7 Greens: Opening August
Owned by long-time Detroit chef and caterer, Kelly Schaefer, 7 Greens will focus on offering fresh, healthy and gourmet food. Make-your-own salads, homemade sauces, soups, granola and sweets are all part of this “farm to fork” destination. Freshii: Opening September
Owned by Lunchtime Global owners Randy and Andrew Dickow, Freshii (a Toronto favorite) is focused on providing fresh and healthy foods for people on the go. Offering salads, wraps, soups, burritos, rice bowls, fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, frozen yogurt and more, you’ll find it’s easy to have food that’s fast and good for you.
