Opportunity Detroit: October Guest Highlights

It’s now November, so you know what that means! Halloween was just here, and last month’s guests were pretty scary. Not really – but they were very fascinating. You can hear Paul W. Smith of WJR and Stephen Luigi Piazza of Quicken Loans on their Opportunity Detroit radio show on WJR-760 AM every Friday night! You’ll learn everything about developments in the Motor City. It’ll be a scream!

Here are just a few of the topics and guests featured in October:

Learn about a company that’s making music and being green at the same time! Mark Wallace is the founder and president of Wallace Detroit Guitars. He launched the business earlier this year to make high-quality electric guitars out of wood reclaimed from historic Detroit buildings. The wood used for these guitars is no longer commercially available because it comes from old-growth forests with a rare, dense grain. This rare material produces amazing vintage guitars with a unique sound. To learn about the company, visit WallaceDetroitGuitars.com.

Learn which spa was voted #1 in downtown Detroit! Woodhouse Day Spa is owned and operated by Cheryl Hudson in downtown Detroit. Cheryl is the first female franchise owner for the national spa chain, and it’s the only franchise in Michigan. Woodhouse Day Spa offers more than 70 spa treatments, and it’s open seven days a week. It was voted the Best Day Spa by the Detroit Young Professionals, and it was voted the Best Manicure and Pedicure by UPTOWN Magazine. The spa had a grand re-opening in October after undergoing renovations. Check out the services they offer at Detroit.WoodHouseSpas.com.

Do you like to run? If you do, you’ll love RUNdetroit, a specialty running store that opened in Midtown last year. Justin Craig is co-owner of the store, and he also serves as director for the Mustache Dache in Detroit. The race, which will be held at on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at Atwater Brewery, is the world’s biggest and best mustache-themed running party. The race raises money for the Movember Foundation, which is a global organization aimed at improving men’s health. To learn more about the store, visit Run-Detroit.com and visit MustacheDache.com to sign up for the race.

Don’t forget to tune in to the next show on Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m. for all of that, and more!
