The Big Game Detroit sets and hikes for the second year of food, field games and football in Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square. This year, the event returns with twice the fun! Instead of a one day event, there are two opportunities to join in the excitement surrounding football season.
Watch Michigan State University (MSU) and University of Michigan (U of M) alumni compete in a flag football game during The Big Game Detroit Rally on Wednesday, October 12 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Keep the party going on Wednesday, October 26 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. with a mac-n-cheese & chili Cook-Off at The Big Game Detroit Tailgate.
With two chances to join in the rivalry and revelry of the game you won’t want to miss this. Read on for details surrounding the event.
The Big Game Detroit Rally
Get in the spirit of the MSU and U of M rivalry with The Big Game Rally.
Field games will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., including tug of war at The Beach and sack races on the North Lawn. The games are open and free to the public and officiated by Come Play Detroit referees. Grab your friends, family or coworkers and compete for fun prizes To sign up for the field games, check out the Campus Marius Park website for registration.
Stick around for the MSU and U of M alumni, flag football game at 5 p.m. The game will be refereed by Come Play Detroit and located on the North Lawn. Local sports media personalities will be at the game, giving play-by-play announcements.
Game One kicks off (get it?) with MSU Team Green vs. MSU Team White. Game Two features U-M Team Maize vs. U-M Team Blue. Watch the final championship game between Game One and Two winners as MSU and U of M fight to the finish.

The Big Game Detroit Tailgate
What’s a football game without a tailgate?
Located in Cadillac Square, The Big Game Detroit returns on Wednesday, October 26 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. for a mac-n-cheese & chili cook-off.
Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and includes an evening of chili and mac –n-cheese sampling from over a dozen of Detroit restaurants. Guests 21 and older will also be able to purchase from a great selection of local craft beers and cocktails, supported by Atwater Brewery and Great Lakes Beverage.
The MSU vs. U of M pre-game tailgate party will feature pep rally bands, cheerleaders, a live band and DJ. Guests will also receive a commemorative pint glass and keepsake photo.
