I had the chance to sit down with Bryan Baker Signal-Return’s printer-in-residence. The moment you start talking letterpress with Bryan, you can feel his passion for the art of printing. A Hamtramck resident, Bryan started teaching workshops and classes at the studio two years ago, and he’s been with Signal-Return full time since February. Here’s Bryan’s take on this unique Detroit business.

Occupation: Cinematographer, editor and freelance producer

What he’s done: Founder and creator of Reel Vision Media, a digital production studio based in the David Stott Building. Siegel works as a HD camera operator, editor and producer and specializes in robotic camera applications, such as motion-control time-lapse and UAV (drone) cinematography. He has taken part in numerous indie films, TV shows, commercials and big-name productions in Detroit over the past five years. Career highlights include a European concert tour documenting Eminem’s “Recovery” album; “BURN,” the award-winning documentary on the Detroit Fire Department; and Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” CNN show. Siegel and partner Stephen Wasko recently launched “Motor City Copters.” Their work can be seen on HBO in April when VICE premiers a documentary shot in Detroit last year.
