Detroit’s Newest Night Spot Deluxx Fluxx Is Serving Up Street-Style Art and Games

Detroit’s latest entertainment spot is serving up eye-popping experiences through its design and wit! Deluxx Fluxx made its debut in August in downtown’s Belt Alley. This is not your typical bar; it’s part arcade and part music venue with a unique design layout. The atmosphere is awesome and it’s a great place to chill out and have fun with friends Tuesdays through Sundays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Behind the interior layout and design are Faile, a Brooklyn, New York-based artist duo of Patrick Neil and Patrick Miller, and a street artist by the name of Bast. The aesthetic is acid-drenched nostalgia with street graffiti and arcade-gaming culture. The venue features black and white designs with cosmic, psychedelic graphics that light up. What really sets this venue apart from the other arcade bars in downtown Detroit is the neon-drenched lounge area. From the ceiling to the floor, it’s lit – literally. All the bold graphics light up under the black lights, creating a cosmic acid look. It’s definitely a photo-worthy experience!

Deluxx Fluxx has a whole host of things to do. First, take some time and check out the 10 custom-made vintage-style games by Brooklyn- based developer Matthew Cooley. They were all made to fit Detroit themes like RoboCop (a boxing game), Zug Island and Michigan Central Station (a game where you’re running from various ghosts). Next, check out the bar serving up 10 great cocktails.  These drinks were created by Kyle Adam Thousand and Matt Bieke. The Dancehall Queen is very popular drink on the menu. The menu also offers draft beers and non-alcoholic beverages with prices ranging from $3 to $12. Lastly, this live music venue hosts local and national bands, different DJs and karaoke night every Tuesday. To learn more about the events, check out on Deluxx Fluxx’s Facebook page or Instagram page.

Deluxx Fluxx is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.  It’s located at 1274 Library Street Detroit, MI 48226. Go through the nondescript door green door identified with four neon Xs above the door. It’s located on the Grand River side by the Z lot.

If you enjoy the music selections at El Club, then you’ll definitely vibe out at Deluxx Fluxx. Upcoming events include Swingin’ Utters on Saturday, September 29. Tickets start at $15. In October, Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears and others are scheduled to perform. Ticketfly has a list of performances, and each event ranges from 18+ or 21+, and cover change is different for each event.
