Cue the glitter and confetti, the Donut Fest is taking over The Eastern on Saturday, May 18th, at 9 a.m. It’s time to get your mouth ready for some sugary, deep-fried treats. The Donut Fest is making its way to Detroit to crown the city’s best donut. Who can it be?
Donut Fest is a fun festival that was simply designed for people who love donuts, hosted by Bobalky & Gnocchi, LLC. The food & drink consulting company is based in Chicago and is known for hosting a few other events such as the Poutine Fest and Coast-to-Coast Fest. Donut Fest made its first appearance in Chicago back in 2014 and it was a huge success. Now the Donut Fest is making their debut in Detroit! Who can really say no to a donut? I know it is a struggle for me.
Twelve local bakeries and doughnut shops have submitted their best version of glazed, cruller, Boston crème, or whatever sugary concoction into the competition.
Here is a list of the participating bakeries:
Rolais’ Caribbean Baking Co.
Blake’s Orchard Cider Mill
The New Donut Factory
Westernview Orchards & Winery
Leaman’s Green Applebarn
Donut Bar + Coffee
