Thursdays this summer, Downtown’s Lafayette Greens is hosting an afternoon farmers market. Join them in their beautiful garden at the corner of Michigan and Shelby from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a summer celebration of locally grown food and local food producers. A host of vendors set up shop on the sidewalk just inside the garden, selling fresh produce, prepared foods, beverages, plants, sweets, clothing items and more.
For a perfect summer lunch break, choose a freshly-prepared vegetarian salad and fresh juice drink from Corktown’s Brooklyn Street Local and grab a seat at one of the dining tables tucked into this urban garden oasis. Homemade kettle corn, sweet potato pies, and freshly brewed coffee also make this a great spot for an afternoon snack break. And if you don’t have time to sit in the garden, swing by for some fresh air and locally-grown plants, produce, and herbs to go- all the ingredients you need for a delicious summer dinner.
