IndyCar Returns to Detroit’s Belle Isle – Are You Coming?

More than $7 million in improvements have been made to Detroit’s Belle Isle since 2007. Those improvements will be on full display this weekend as the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit Presented by Quicken Loans returns to the D.

A year ago, history was made at Belle Isle. The 2013 event marked the first time that two championship points races took place in one weekend. Mike Conway took home the championship in the first race while Simon Pagenaud was victorious in the second.

Since the dual race was so popular a year ago, why not do it again? The action kicks off today (May 30) with practice sessions and the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Truck Series race beginning at 4:35 p.m. ET. On Saturday (May 31), you’ll want to head out to Belle Isle bright and early (10:05 a.m. ET) for the Cadillac V-Series Challenge presented by the Metro Detroit Cadillac Dealers. Saturday’s main event – the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit Presented by Quicken Loans Dual I – kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET. Sunday’s Dual II also begins at 3:30 p.m. ET. You can check out the full list of events here.

Not a race fan? Not a problem. There’s a lot more than just racing taking place this weekend. The Meijer Fan Zone will feature entertainment for families of all ages all weekend long. Take a break from the action on the track and check out Lifehouse, who will perform live on the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment stage Saturday at 6:15 p.m. ET. Shaggy is set to take the stage Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Need tickets? Whether you’re looking for single-day options or multi-day options, you can purchase your tickets online here. You can even get free roundtrip shuttle service to Belle Isle from two downtown Detroit locations. That’s right – free!

If you’ve never made it out to the 2.3-mile course, you’re missing out. Belle Isle has a lot to offer. It’s setting up to be another spectacular weekend in Detroit. Forecasts are calling for mid to high 70s all weekend with no rain in sight. The entire IndyCar world will be focused on Belle Isle. Race fans from all over are already descending upon Detroit. Everyone’s going to be here. I suggest you come, too!
