MoPop Music Festival Returns to West Riverfront Park

MoPop Music Festival is back with no overlapping set times! The festival will take place July 28 and 29 at Detroit’s West Riverfront Park. With two packed days of music, hop from the River Stage to the Grande Stage and listen to 22 amazing artists in Folk, Hip-Hop, Indie, and more. Headliners this year include Bon Iver, Vince Staples, The National and St. Vincent. This will be Bon Iver’s first time performing in Detroit in a decade. Detroit rapper, Curtis Roach, will open the festival, playing on the River Stage at 1:30. Another Detroit act, Empty Houses, will open Sunday with indie pop music mixed with a Motown influence. Grand Rapids natives, Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers will take the stage with their legendary sunflower on Sunday.

Head to the Shipyard for food and drink options. Imperial, Slows, Drought, Fist of Curry, Lovers Only, and voyager will be onsite all weekend. Get out of the sun by visiting the Mo Arcade. Mo Pop teamed up with Detroit’s Offworld Arcade to build an air conditioned tent filled with original classic arcade games. There will also be high score contests, prizes, drinks, and local DJs.

The festival will open their gates at 1:00 p.m. both days. To make traveling easier, the People Mover will be running from Noon – 2:00 a.m. Riders can take this to the Joe Louis Arena stop and walk a mile west to the festival entrance. Biking is also an option with Detroit Bike offering free and secure parking. For those driving, parking is available for $25 per vehicle per day.

There will be water filling stations throughout the park to help attendees stay hydrated in the hot July sun. Attendees are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to fill up at the water stations. Items, such as blankets, binoculars, and sunscreen in plastic containers are allowed. Chairs, umbrellas, selfie sticks and outside food/beverages are some of the prohibited items.
